The North Atlantic Jazz Alliance
Please join us for a special West- coast Tour of the North Atlantic Jazz Alliance featuring Markus Burger, Jim Linahon, Marshall Hawkins, Jan von Klewitz, Paul Kreibich and Bill Yeager.
NAJA is a German- American Composers Ensemble with some of the finest West-Coast and German Jazz Recording Artists who are also veteran Jazz Educators.
Burger is the founding member of NAJA received funding to be a part of the activities celebrating the German American year 18/19. NAJA will depart on a 4 concert Tour in July of 2019 with planned Alaska concerts in Cordova, Tongen Lake Lodge, Soldotna and Homer
NAJA Artists are:
Marshall Hawkins (bass, Miles Davis),
Paul Kreibich (drums, Ray Charles),
Markus Burger (piano, Kenny Wheeler, Peter Erskine),
James Linahon (trumpet, Frank Sinatra) and
Jan von Klewitz (alto sax, Maceo Parker).
It is also noteworthy that the Smithsonian Museum has chosen the short film “TRANE & MILES” with Music by NAJA to become part of the archives at the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture.
The film depicts a seminal series of meetings between tenor saxophone legend John Coltrane and pioneering trumpeter Miles Davis during the creation of the biggest selling jazz album in music history, “Kind of Blue.”
Part of the soundtrack will be featured in the concerts during our tour.
